Why SGS?

As a world leader in verification, inspection, testing and certification, we are the first choice for companies looking to verify their GHG emissions inventory. We began developing specialist GHG verification and advisory services in 1998, following the adoption of the Kyoto Protocol. Our services consider all aspects of an organization’s approach to climate action and can be used by companies and operations of all sizes – from SMEs to large global conglomerates across all industry segments.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Training

Learn to quantify, measure, monitor, report, and verify greenhouse gas emissions for your organization. SGS Academy (click below) offers a comprehensive series of five training modules. All virtual courses can also be conducted on-site at your location! Contact us to inquire about private courses.

Our GHG verification services include:

  • Non-accredited verification of GHG emissions inventories to GHG Protocol

  • Accredited verification of GHG emissions inventories to ISO 14064-1 performed under ISO 14065 accreditation for a range of local, regional, and global emissions schemes

  • Development, disclosure, and reporting of verifiable GHG emissions inventories aligned with the GHG Protocol or ISO 14064-1 guidance

  • Product verification against internationally accepted standards and your own methodologies, including ISO 14067 and GHG Protocol, PAS 2060, and PAS 2050

Proposed regulations in the USA & Canada will require certain federal suppliers and publicly traded companies to measure and verify their annual “carbon footprint” or greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory. SGS provides training, consulting, and independent 3rd party assurance to one or both of the following standards:

  • The Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol
  • ISO 14065: Greenhouse Gas
