SGS has secured approval from the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to test and certify against an expanded scope of electrical and electronic products destined for the US market.
Through its global network of Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs), SGS can test and certify E and E products.
We identify the applicable regulations and standards for each of your specific product and target markets. We support you, reduce risk, improve efficiency and ensure compliance to contractual or regulatory requirements in all your manufacturing, sourcing, distribution and retailing operations. As you consider your company’s compliance challenges, let SGS support you to make the best decisions for your business.
This is a scheme for mutual recognition of tests performed worldwide based on IEC standards, in order to give national marks. The CB Scheme has become an effective worldwide “one stop testing” passport, which is used in most cases as a standalone document. As a CB member, SGS can get you closer to the “one product, one test, one mark” way of doing business.
The U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is a federal government agency that regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable. SGS provides independent FCC testing and certification services that will support getting your products to market faster. As an FCC designated Telecommunication Certification Body (TCB), SGS can act as a one-stop-shop for all your FCC testing and certification needs.

An independent testing laboratory that is recognized by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) is given the title of a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL). This allows a laboratory to test and certify products to the safety specifications that will correlate to the current applicable standard – such as those from standards-writing bodies, including the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) or Underwriters Laboratories (UL).
The purpose of a NRTL is to provide an unbiased, detached evaluation, testing and certification of any electrically operated product. SGS is recognized as a NRTL in the United States and in a similar capacity, accredited by the Standards Council of Canada (SCC) in Canada. In order to be recognized as a NRTL, a laboratory has to be able to prove their expertise in a particular field or product type. Once this proficiency has been acknowledged by OSHA, the authorization to test products and issue the listings/certifications is granted through an OSHA accreditation. All SGS products that are tested and certified are marked with the SGS North America Listed Mark.
